Workshop on Performance Auditing (PA) with the Swedish National Audit Office (SNAO)

A workshop on performance audit was held in Sofia on 27-29 March 2012 with the participation of Mr Rutger Banefelt, Audit Director, Mr Göran Arnell, Audit Director, and Ms Nina Gustafsson Åberg, Auditor, from the SNAO. Around 30 BNAO auditors experienced in the PA field attended the workshop.
The purpose of the workshop was to exchange experiences from PA, acknowledging differences in environmental and constitutional settings, if any, between BNAO and SNAO.
The workshop was interactive in format. The BNAO participants were divided in three groups; presentations were mixed with group assignments. Furthermore, the BNAO participants were encouraged to ask questions during the presentations and to engage in discussions on the pros and cons of different ways of carrying out PA.
The agenda focused on:
• PA at SNAO and according to INTOSAI – basic principles; and
• PA practice – six steps in PA.
The workshop ended with a concluding discussion.
