The President of the Bulgarian National Audit Office Tzvetan Tzvetkov awarded Golden Plaquette and Anniversary medal “130 years NAO” to Ms. Tsetska Tsacheva, President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria, and to Ms. Menda Stoyanova, Chairperson of the Budget and Finance Committee. Anniversary medal was also awarded to Ms. Diana Yordanova, Chairperson of the Public Sector Accountability Subcommittee. The prizes are awarded to them for their contribution to the improvement of legislation in the field of audit and financial accountability and to the development of the BNAO.       

The ceremony took place at the National Assembly of Republic of Bulgaria and was also attended by the two Vice-Presidents of the BNAO – Goritsa Grancharova-Kozhareva and Toshko Todorov.         

Ms. Tsacheva and Ms. Stoyanova have personally contributed, through their professional experience for the improvement of the legislation in the field of public sector control and its adaptation to the international standards as well as to the implementation of the best audit practices, pointed out Mr. Tzvetkov.       


During their mandate the NAO Act, the independent financial audit and accountancy act were adopted, as well as the law for the internal audit in the public sector and the public finances act were amended. The work of Ms. Diana Yordanova as Chairperson of the Public Sector Accountability Subcommittee contributed to enhance the awareness within the National Assembly and to the better analysis of the results of the audit work of the National Audit Office.               

Ms. Tsetska Tsacheva said she highly appreciates the award from such a distinguished institution and highlighted that the National Assembly and the NAO have been working and cooperating in the interest of the state.           


The BNAO has very close relations with the National Assembly. The BNAO is a parliamentary type of SAI. Its main task is to control the lawful, effective, efficient, and economical management of public resources and activities, as well as to provide the National Assembly with reliable and objective information thereof.
